About the Trek

The Bijli Mahadev trek, nestled in the serene Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India, is a captivating adventure that offers breathtaking views and a glimpse into the region’s cultural heritage.

This moderately challenging trek begins from the quaint village of Kinja and ascends through lush pine forests, terraced fields, and charming hamlets.

As trekkers make their way up, they are rewarded with panoramic vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The trek culminates at the Bijli Mahadev Temple, perched at approximately 8,070 feet. This ancient temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is renowned for its unique tradition where lightning strikes the temple’s spire, shattering it into pieces that are later repaired by the temple priests.

The Bijli Mahadev trek is not just a physical journey but also a spiritual one, as it provides trekkers with an opportunity to connect with nature and experience local traditions. The best time to embark on this trek to experience snow is between December and February when the region receives snowfall and the surroundings of the temple become all white covered with a snow blanket.

Overall, the Bijli Mahadev trek is a perfect blend of adventure, spirituality, and natural beauty, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a unique trekking experience in the Himalayas.
