How to Reach Manali Basecamp?

By Road: 

The quickest and most economical way to get to Manali. Manali is accessible by road from several locations, including Delhi (540 km), Chandigarh (305 km), Dehradun (227 km), and Ambala (370 km). 

By Train:

The closest railway station to Manali is Jogindernagar. Other train routes to Manali include those through Chandigarh and Ambala.5

By Air:

The nearest airport is Bhuntar airport, 10 km from Manali. Cabs and local buses are easily available from Bhuntar to Manali.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Manali to Jobra and Trek to Chika

  • From Himtrek Manali Base, you will travel to Jobra early in the morning, from where your trek would start.

  • This drive will take you through several hairpin bends, and the beauty of the Kullu Valley all along the ride. 

  • After quite a brief lunch stopover in Jobra, we will start our trek to Chika, which is a 2 hour long easy trek and includes a couple of small river crossings.

  • Holding a hiking pole close by is suggested to reduce effort.

  • The hike ascends steadily through the shade of pine trees, green meadows, and a refreshing air, providing a magnificent view of Manali from the mountain ditch.

  • Once you reach Chika, you will be spellbound by a spectacular view of lush greenery and snow-capped high mountains.

  • Take a moment to admire the surroundings while entering a beautiful field that is covered with little rocks all around.

  • Spend the night in camps and refuel with delectable meals for the next day of exploration.

 

Day 2: Trek from Chika to Balu ka Ghera

  • Wake up to a beautiful sunrise and have breakfast with hot sipping tea. 

  • After breakfast, we'll depart promptly so you may take in the journey in its natural state.

  • The trail ahead would be expectedly covered in snow.

  • The trek traverses through some breathtaking scenery before ending on a grassy bank that slopes down from the cliffs that lie beneath Hampta Pass.

  • The proximity of the Tokru-Shakru peaks, and the gorgeous coloration of the rocks and hillside add on to its beauty. 

  • The lush, emerald Kullu Valley is located on one side of the pass, and the starkly different desert valley of Lahaul is on the other. 

  • We'll hike back using the same route after some time.

  • Arrive at the campsite, enjoy a nice dinner.

  • Spend the night at the campsite. 

 

Day 3: Trek from Balu ka Ghera to Hampta Pass and back to Balu ka Ghera

  • From this point on, you will catch your first glimpse of the Dhauladhar ranges, an outlying Himalayan chain of mountains, and it is from these snowy expanses that the experience of trekking in the Himalayas begins to take hold.

  • Snow-capped mountain peaks could be seen on one side of the pass, and jagged boulders and broken rocks can be seen on the opposite side.

  • Observe Mother Nature's beauty, which is typically veiled by the activity of the metropolis.

  •  The settlement of Hampta, which lends the pass its name, will be our final halt before we start the descent to Balu ka Ghera.

  • Experience the magical sights of Hampta pass and take in the immense pleasure it holds for your eyes. 

  • After a grueling journey, you will reach Balu ka Ghera. Stop here for some well-earned rest before bed.

  • Spend the night in tents, soak in the memories of the wide vistas of the 3 days as you’re stepping into the final day of the trek on the upcoming morning.

 

Day 4: Trek from Balu ka Ghera to Chika and back to Manali

  • We will leave Balu ka Ghera after breakfast and trek back to Chika.

  • The fourth day has an easy trail, and it's quick to descend steadily. 

  • After reaching Chika, the trek will lead you to Jobra, from where you started on day 1. 

  • A vehicle will take you from Jobra to Manali, where your 4 days long trip ends.

  • Soon it will be time to say goodbye to this wonderful adventure.

  • Go back home with a bag full of memories.
